When I met this couple at their engagement session (check it out here), I knew their wedding was going to be amazing. They are some of the sweetest and most enjoyable people to be around. And just as I thought, their big day was amazing!!! Zach and MacKenzie were married at the Barn at Bay Horse Inn on a sunny day in June. Everything was perfect from her gorgeous dress to the cute flower girls and ring bearer. It was so great – the only thing missing was their beautiful, furry dog who I fell in love with at their engagement session – oh my goodness, he was so cute, fluffy and sweet. Thanks to my amazing second shooter, Ariel, for helping me out with this wedding. Here are some of my favorite images from the day. Congrats a million times, Zach and MacKenzie! I’m sooooo happy that I got to meet you both and I hope I get to run into you sometime soon.
So… have you ever wondered how to turn a wedding into an instant party? Add rain… Lots of rain! I’m not kidding. Most brides dread the thought of rain on their outdoor wedding but after experiencing this particular wedding – I’m beginning to think we need to look at rainy ceremonies in a different light. But before I go on any further, let me introduce you to my gorgeous bride, Anna. I got to know this precious girl when she played volleyball for me in middle school. I had so much fun with her and feel so lucky to have been able to watch her grow up into the amazing lady that she is today. If I had one word to describe Anna it would be fun. She is so much fun to be around – constantly laughing and giggling! Her smile lights up a room and she always makes you feel loved, important and cared for. And I can’t begin to tell you how excited I am that she fell in love with Adam. This guy is a keeper. He is so sweet and kind and thoughtful. Just let me tell you a little about the wedding present he gave Anna. He got her all her favorite treats, a new pair of earrings and made her a recipe box and put in a recipe card for “How to Keep Anna Happy.” It was so sweet and as Anna read the recipe allowed, you could hear all her bridesmaids saying “aaaahhh” in happy excitement for their friend. The day was filled with tons of amazing moments but I must say my favorite was when the rain started to come down right before Anna was to walk down the aisle with her dad. The wedding processional just kept right on going and Anna walked down the aisle laughing with her dad and this was the best part – her amazing guests stood, clapped and cheered for them! It was awesome!!! We got soaked but nobody cared because we were all so happy to be celebrating this couple. Congrats, Anna and Adam. I’m so excited for you both!
I did something a little crazy this June. I photographed 3 weddings in a row – Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Yes, I was tired but I really love shooting weddings so if given the opportunity again to do a “triple header” – I probably will. God knew this would be the perfect wedding for me to end my busy weekend with. Why? Because it was full of people that I know and love. It was full of people who make me laugh and smile. It was full of friendships that make my heart happy. And it all surrounded around one of the sweetest couples ever – Mark and Kaitlyn. Mark and Kaitlyn both graduated from GCA where my husband is a teacher and he would always tell me what amazing “kids” Mark and Kaitlyn were. Well, they aren’t “kids” anymore. They are now husband and wife and I had the amazing privilege of capturing their big day in photographs. They were married in Bloomington at a gorgeous place called Sycamore Farm. It is an old horse barn that has been converted in a wedding venue. The ceremony took place in a beautiful field that offered the perfect amount of shade for the guests. And after the ceremony the stunning reception was inside the barn. Warning: This is a pretty lengthy blog with lots of photos. I just couldn’t stop taking pictures. They were such an adorable couple and holy moly – Kaitlyn was an absolutely radiant bride. Her hair, makeup, dress – everything was perfect. I hope you enjoy looking at their photos as much as I enjoyed taking them. And thank you to Holyn, my amazing second shooter, for all your help!!!!
